Now apparently
Merely looking at a woman
As she smokes cigarettes
On the roof of her apartment
Across the street is tantamount
To courtship

There are two sisters hers
Here with me on my balcony
Making that point rather impatiently
With words and insistent silences
That seem to go on for hours

Finally under pressure
I wave my hand in surrender
And the woman across the street
Happily comes over too

So now there are three women
In my life who when they were
Certainly far more beautiful
Wouldn’t have given me
The time of day

I don't believe it. I bet that even in their younger days those ladies would have loved to hang out on your roof with you!
