.

Lisette
In a short white skirt
Walks across the street
From the little shop
Where she works at
Being a simple clerk
Looking for paper

Tall and slender
With long legs long
Blond hair she makes
Any crowding shoppers here
Seem only like a summer
Forest she’s passing through

She’s come to have
Written down something
About something stupid
Overcoming badness

As a woman no one
Is ever sure if Lisette
When talking is ten
Or thirteen years old

Lisette believes in dolls
Stars special numbers
The power of pyramids
And one day will discover
That God spelled backwards
Is dog

No man in his right mind
Would ever marry her yet Lisette
Is still so very beautiful everyone
Is always happy to see her
Regardless of what she says

So Lisette again
Proves that love has eyes
Always in search of lost Paradise

And yet will settle at last
For whatever light there is
Though otherwise she’s useless
