(inspired by our Louisiana Poet Jerry)

In the pelican breeze is tulip trees
and green-gray Spanish moss is swaying.
Scent of magnolia flutters like chemise
in a distance saxophones are playing.

Piano fingers playing Creole blues
and guitars playing a dixieland tune.
Beads of purple, green and gold hues
beneath Louisiana's bayou moon.

Majestic old oaks posing gracefully
in shadows of southern moonlight.
A little blue heron wading patiently
within the cypress of a swampland night.
In the pelican breeze is tulip trees
New Orleans moon is shining bright.

You write about south Louisiana as if you were from the south, Victoria. If I inspired this, as you say, I wish I was able to inspire my own self to write something that captured Cajun country so wonderful as you did with this beauty.

thank you Jerry but you are just being modest. At first I had Mardi Gras breeze but changed it to pelican since its the state bird and Mardi Gras was last month.

Everybody writes about Mardi Gras, but you wrote about the real Louisiana. Thank you again . . .
