remember what I said about
being eaten up with guilt?

of course I remember
if I'm going to have to fade away
so be it
if that puts a smile on your face
and happiness in your heart
I'm all for it
I have your doodles
your letters
I have your pictures and your poems
I have the parts of your heart
you have given me
over the past year-and-a-half
these things
will have to do me

Sad and heartfelt Jerry. We all can relate to doomed love.

It happened to me once, a long time ago. I think I'm better able to handle it today and would much prefer losing a love to another than losing a love to cancer, where you have to watch them fade away without hope.

Oh, no doubt about it, Rex. In this case I truly want her to be happy, and if that is the recipe for her happiness . . . So be it.

Thank you for stopping by.

Fine writing...no one likes to lose someone they care for...but surely it will happen many times in a lifetime as we care for others...James

Thank you James, and you are absolutely right, losing loved ones happens frequently . . .
