Little red shed, a sacred place
Nostalgic smells of time and space
A room revolved around a tool
And life around a wooden stool

Little red shed, just a mirage
Against a weathered wood garage
A tiny room was ample space
For one man’s kingdom to embrace

This clapboard shed was his escape
From friendly woods and sandy Cape
His mind would trek a gravel lane
To wild and windy coasts of Maine

Walls of dust and floor of grit
Were shadowed when a lantern lit
A beam of light from deep within
The little shop in blizzard wind

The mind can comfort, soul can heal
And soon the dream becomes the real
But many, many hours were clocked
Before this shed was latched and locked

Against a rising hill of green
Of needled pine and woodland stream
Above all else, love does exist,
A weathered heartache in the mist

Oh, Liz, this is beautiful beyond beautiful and yet beyond beautiful again!  The haunting nostalgia, the perfect rhyme and rhythm used so naturally to full advantage, the picture painted, the pain and the happiness, making a gem of a poem.  A perfect example of how sadness is a proof of treasured joy!  Thank you, Liz.

Liz, I agree with Diana.  This poem tells such a story and illustrates it beautifully.  Love this one.  I am a fan.

I know someone with a little red shed and he makes bird houses. I love this as those sheds carry lots of memories. Beautifully done as always Elizabeth and hope you are feeling better and enjoying life with your daughter.

Thank you Nan for sharing this special place with me. There is something about the places and events of our childhood that tremain with us for a lifetime. And you shared them with me. Now they are my memories too.

Every one of us should have a little red shed
