Super Cat
soars through the universe
streams past comets, flies beyond moons.

Able to spring
from point to point
star to star, Jupiter to Neptune.

Zooming
through the heavens
with birds and mice on his mind.

No nebula
nor star field
will deter his destination.

He spirals past
Saturn and wrestles with Mars,
orbits our Earth and settles

Just outside the barn
hayloft calling, crawling
with morsels of delight, g'night.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

My Virginia,

I so miss having cats...

and your poem brought back the perspective
of their peculiar pretentions....because after all is said and done...

they curl up next to or upon us, purring, perfectly happy to be content with the idea
of a human by their side.
