The Best of You

The warmth of your hand in my pocket
on whitened Winter days,
The salt on your hair in the sunlight
in seasprays Summer haze,
The look in your eyes at the movies
when Bogart wins Bacall,
Your stockings draped over a door knob
the ghost of your scent in the hall,
How giddy you get at a party
when champagne's bubbles flow free,
In a room full of handsome strangers
you only have eyes for me,
When we dance in the night without music
you bury your head in my chest,
Then whisper so softly "I love you"
my darling, thats the best.

To my wife on valentines day, an oldie but a goodie.... A little like us.

I have missed you, and your wife will like
the fact that you remember, bless you,
of a time when you wrote this, AND
remembered that your wrote this!

Sometimes, the oldies are the very best goodies, OLIAS, and it sounds as if your oldies are very special.
