I remember look of you bundled inside of your grand stylish coat, bright laugh on your face as you ran through traffic to meet me; I remember feel of you wrapped tight around me, floating through soft lights in quiet bedroom alone, touch of your skin was electric and moist, I've never felt anyone like you again; half awake in night I reach for you still through too many tears to count, where is peace of mind that I need? I remember smell of you; scent alive and soft like haze of slow roasting almonds, heady and strong like cognac warmed in the hand, when I sleep I remember the taste. I don't ask to keep thoughts alive, others, lovers after you, I've known longer loved them stronger and been loved more in return. Thoughts of you, memories, I hold at bay with bright lights as I would wild stalking animals of prey knowing when I tire, when fire dims, they will strike. ©2003, 2013 by icebox [This message has been edited by icebox (02-13-2013 09:32 PM).] |
