Coffee On The Veranda
(from The Faces of Love)

Nestled in my morning
are thoughts of you,
and coffee
shared on the veranda
with the waking dawn.

We sip the aroma
of morning dew
mingled with the fragrance,
the delicate first taste of coffee
on the tip of the tongue.

Fresh brew
bringing taste buds alive
awakening our senses,
to the first light of day,
our eyes meeting,
holding,
through the steam arising
from each cup.

Essential to my morning . . .

thoughts of you,
coffee, shared on the veranda,
with the waking dawn.

Having a cup of java, steam rising from the cup, gives you pause to remember unremembered things . . . Nice, J . . .

hot raisin toast and sweet apple butter
sipping hot coffee,the hummingbirds flutter
pink azaleas of morn bursting in bloom
inhaling the essence of the days perfume

Lovely, Jimmy.  As I live alone I call that time my moment with God - and coffee of course and let's not forget the birds.  Sometimes it becomes more than a moment but then perhaps it's the only meaningful place to be.  Then again I do believe that everything is as one thinks it is.

I hope you enjoy many more cups of coffee - and love.

Helen

Helen ... yeah, the birds are an integral part of my morning coffee - and other times of day. Without there visibility (sometimes only hear-ability) the world would be a far sadder place and so many in the world don't hear/see them - even when they are there.

My next cup is for you, my friend.

I'm not much of a coffee fan...but now I want some to go with this poem. I enjoyed each word and each delicate sip of the sweetness!
