We've walked together Fifth and Main, You always ended in vast plains. We laughed with glee our silly talk, Your poems you read as we did walk. We strolled til nightfall then we paused At our hideaway just because. We shared our love all through the night, And scaled tall mountains in love's height. Alas, the dawn would find our tears, Walking back where we'd been with fear. Muted words we spoke if at all, Both were afraid that we might bawl. At the crossroad we had to part, We could both feel our bleeding hearts. I ambled back to Fifth and Main, You always ended in vast plains. ©January 14, 2013 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

I can feel the bleeding hearts in this one Jerry. My kind of poem. Enjoyed very much. ~Victoria Be not ashamed of mistakes and thus make them crimes. |

This speaks to me of the sense of yearning and longing that I felt so keenly in my youth. Wonderful thoughts and expression Jp~ [This message has been edited by BluesSerenade (02-08-2013 06:25 PM).] |
