A poet friend of mine, Bob Gaut, sent one of his poems. It's titled "Rumor Spreader." The moment I saw the title my mind started going on my fertilizer spreader. So here's my try: I have a fertilizer spreader hanging round the garage wall. I used to use it in the spring, now I rarely use it at all. I learned from a savvy agronomist, the time to hit the lawn is when the cool growing blades are reaching for the dawn. Late in November in this northern hemisphere is the time to spread manure 'tis the optimum time of year. So if you spread manure make sure it's the good blades that you feed If you spread it in the springtime you're nurturing the weeds. Fertilizer spreaders help things grow to unpredictable size, so spread your fertilizer on good grass not else wise. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |

Hey, Victoria, thanks for the Hardy laugh! Well the comparative in my mind is that all too often the rumors that are spread are much akin to manure and they fertilize and grow to an unpredictable size. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, |
