If we were not so arrogant
Each to his own desire
If we were not so mesmerized
Into the blazing fire

If we could see magnificence
In such a simple thing
As this, a ruby feather
Hidden deep within a wing

If we could see beyond ourselves
By looking deep within
We’d learn to study life,
And never feel the winter wind

If we’d release the pageantry
And dwell upon the soul
A simple breath of country air
Would be a noble goal

Then watch the winds blow through the trees
And see the branches bend
The purple buds adorning spring
Will blossom in the end

This is one hellofa poem, Elizabeth. There is nod our heads and say to ourselves, so much to digest. It is also quite beautiful to read.
quote:
As this, a ruby feather
Hidden deep within a wing,

I have a wing I found about three years ago as I was walking my mutt. I think it came from a dove. I have in is Ziploc. Don't know why I keep it, but I know 'll never throw it away.

Liz, it seems so important now at this later stage of life to see the beauty in everything and enjoy life, yet feel sad sometimes that other "stuff" got in the way when younger.

Enjoyed this much, my friend...one should always see "what's around oneself" - - - "before seeing oneself".
