Since there has been afew challenges flowing through the forum I thought I might add a suggestive poetic challenge which would honour the fine arts and maybe teach afew differences in appearances of ones own poetry. The challenge is simple, you pick any poet of your choice be it from the site or from a well versed master poet who has earned the title over the many years of others reading their poetic wonders be it from poe to bryon or any who suits your liking. And when you have found that poet you write a poem in their style of writing trying to mimic a mind that is most likely mimicless, but doing enough research to do some justice and creating a poem which would be a interesting read. For those that might have writers block its just something to get the juices running again, and also you'll read many great poems in your information gathering to produce such a piece. Taking a poet from their comfort zones into complimenting another poet. RS |

Should we say who we are imitating or should people try to guess? ~Victoria |

I think to make it clearer we should state if its a poem from the forum member or a famous poet and then decide ourselves if we want them to guess or we can simply just put who it is, depends how challenging you want to make it. RS |

To make it easier if you write like a famous poet state who it is or if you write like a member allow people to guess for fun. RS |

My immediate thought is of Frost, a favorite of mine. I might use this apod photo as my inspiration: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap130127.html Whether on the shoal or on the shore, I'll seek the lighthouse evermore. And here is my try: http://apod.nasa.gov/apod/ap130127.html attempting the style of Frost to the above photo Swooping by Earth of a Chilean evening Kissing Andean peaks sliding o'er Santiago A splay of light across a seldom traveled scene To adorn the heavens a stab toward my mien And you will you join me in the way, And sparkle with me lightly through the day? |

hahaha, how choice! I hadn't seen this until after I posted an editing of my first reply. And now I'm giggling, embarrassingly at my self because I was combining Stopping By Woods of a Snowy Evening and The Road Less Traveled a bit of a corruption of the words in the verse. Whether on the shoal or on the shore, I'll seek the lighthouse evermore. |
