Snowfields Hush now, no sound as winter’s blanket falls upon the ground Each flake freefalls, so softly, its’ symmetry so unique Those frosted fields, earth like iron forged in long distant mills See footsteps small, along the bank where runs the brook so cold So clean, so bright, no warmth this night cold orb that chills the soul A blizzard rage, to hide the sky and footpaths from your eye The coming dawn long purple shadows touch the snowdrop heads A distant echo, like stones once skimmed across a frozen lake And fingers numb, to grasp the frozen milk upon the step So pristine, no school this day, soon the snowmen standing tall The wind to drift, sculptured banks of snow like glacial cliffs Oh please don’t walk, leave the virgin snow perfect in its’ form And as I turn, vivid flash of colour from Robin Red His song to sing, warmth to melt the snowfields before the spring. Beautiful winter painting you have described Michel. Enjoyed the scenery. ~Victoria Love is a smoke made with the fume of sighs. |
