Uploaded with ImageShack.us the time came after all the road mileage it was a time of peering through the looking glass of uglies done and misdemeanors thought of it came with an awareness of euphoria closing old doors opening a mirror unto myself I didn't know whether to smile or expose weathered, but still dangerous teeth I did neither I looked about and took of the plate of perpetuity and consumed what was offered me love a love heady as wine with a heart which had been bruised into itself horribly should I really partake in this feast this beginning of tomorrow yes I could and I found myself smiling remembering the words you must forgive yourself before you can be the person you wish you were poppycock I used to say forgiveness comes from others not ourselves wrong I was wrong, and as I partook of this strange feast of self-love it was a self-love to a stranger that was me all along it was me all my life I ignored spat upon the tender memories of those who were touched and fond of me within the moment the light of complete forgiveness showed its face as my own making me understand and say loud and clear so even I could hear myself I forgive myself for my wrongs then I sat, and began to feast upon my new life ©February 6, 2012 / Jerry Pat Bolton ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Forgiveness from others is nice and all; but it's not necessary. That may sound cold - I've been told I'm cold but understanding yourself, and more importantly forgiving yourself, that is the key. Very well said, Jerry. |

JP, I hear your voice. It is gentle and kind. I will come back to tell you more. I'm touched by your awakening. Ms. E |

Thank you, Lori, and yes it is easier said than done, it took me decades, but it is possible and you will never regret it. <><> Nicole, you learned at a much earlier age than I did that it is yourself who you must forgive and al the rest just falls into place, one way or another. Thank you for being here. <><> I will be here, Ms E, for your return and your thoughts. I appreciate your words very much. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

This is no doubt one of my favorites of yours, dear Jerry. You express this wonderfully uplifting truth most powerfully and also beautifully. Exquisitely wise, should be diffused widely, to be absorbed and applied. When we say we forgive others it means we admit the fact that we have allowed ourselves to be hurt by their behaviour. No one has the power to hurt us when we wear the shield of love, when we mend the hurt with love. And the healing begins with us always. Thank you for this. Margherita |

You are most welcomed, Margherita. It was in the month of October, 2011, that I found myself in the mirror of forgiveness. I have looked at the world much differently since then. Thank you for speaking to me of my words. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Amazing poem, Jerry. I read the lines as if I were on the outside of a oneway mirror, in admiration of the expression of love finding a way to place a banquet before us we could never have dreamed on our own. I think of Paul on the road to Damascus. Joyous resonation permeate your words of wisdom. I appreciate them. |

You comments, Klassy Lassy, are a godsend. To say that you thought of Paul on the way to Damascus was just icing on the cake. I'm pleased as peach about your words. Thank you. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

I find it easier to forgive others than I do to forgive myself. Understanding the need (and rewards!) intellectually and DOING are far different things... I'm so glad you made the leap and accomplished that feat! Wonderful write! |

It took me a l-o-n-g time to get to the point in my life that I could forgive myself, suthern. It is a wonderful feeling afterward. Thank you for being here. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |
