Whispering soft sentiments into the ears of the audience, the strings are bipolar Agitation arises quickly Violins, violas, and cellos begin screaming There is so much to say, but it's said in one breath This statement turns into a rant that crescendos until the strings are red in the face And then silence The result of breathing and a moment's thought The piano has something to say and it's spoken joyfully The strings' moods brighten and they cheerfully join in with staccato bursts of happiness And then silence The result of another mood swing This time the piano and strings are on the same emotional page, even from the start Sullen this time, but what a beautiful shame A love lost, a heart broken, something missing from the hearts of the criers They need to tell someone their solemn story, and the audience has the only ears around that are eager to listen And then silence They've released all of their tears through their hands A more positive outburst from the crowd fills the room, but not specifically a happy one They keys and strings are playful now that they've unloaded their sadness You can hear the freedom in their voices This is how they feel on an average good day, nothing too wonderful, but not sorrowful either Bursts of piano and singing strings speak over each other, but this is how it should be in a bipolar, beautiful family And then silence. ********* Thank you all for reading this poem. I wrote this while listening to my university's faculty play "Sextet for piano and strings in Bb minor. Op. 63" I'm having a bit of a hard time funding the second semester of my junior year due to Hurricane Sandy, and I've created a page where my friends and family can help! I've been here at Pip for a couple of years now, posted hundreds of poems, and read even more. That being said, I consider you all my friends. Please take a minute to check out my page and even share it with people you know who might want to make a difference in a young woman's life! Thank you all for everything. :-) http://www.gofundme.com/AmbersDormFund -Amber |

I really enjoyed the emotional connection with the instruments. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |
