There is nothing
not one iota
of the past that I can change.
So tell me
does hiding from it help?
I mean really?
Does my not forgiving us
for past mistakes...
not forgiving him for leaving this earth....
not forgiving You Lord for taking him...
go into the past and stop it
from happening?

Not even.

Walling myself away
no matter how deep the pain
is just existing with blinders on.

Keeping captive the words
I need....no, I must share

Selfish.

Lord lift me
from this crumbling facade
that wears the misnomer
Luminosity.
Illumination is my prayer
for this day
and each one successively given...

Something we can all feel. How do you forgive someone for not being here anymore, even though given choices they'd never leave? It takes time and grief. Well written.

Ah, such a painful memory, luminosity. We do tend to have all sorts of thought when someone we love departs before we think it is time for them to. Eventually, we find peace within ourselves, and that is where you are heading as you write the poems and publicly post them. Wishing you well.

No... but that doesn't stop us from hundreds upon thousands of mental rewrites and sleepless nights haunted by "what if"s.

This is so very personal... and yet universal. I thought about reading them in order... but knew they would stand on their own... I was right. *S* Superb work!
