Riding The Greyhound - What A Friend We Have . . . (from Boyhood Tales) We had a death Riding the Greyhound. Somewhere between Downtown New Orleans and Thibodaux, Louisiana, grey dog lulled her to sleep, tires humming "What a friend we have . . . " and she passed in peaceful solitude, head back, eyes closed, only person in the row. I don't know her name, where she was from, where she was going, but if I had to die today, Jesus, please let me go just like her, Big grey dog, guiding my way. © wesley james beard, jr. september 2012 |

James... What a lovely, albeit lonely, ride. She passed, among friends. |

I've been involved in some interesting experiences on the Grey Dog, J, but as far as I know nothing tops this. ~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ [This message has been edited by JerryPat2 (09-20-2012 12:45 PM).] |

To just slip away... I think most of us would take that option if it was offered. *S* |

Great story, j. Kind of a quiet joyful sadness. (If that makes sense)? Enjoyed the trip. JL Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. Maranatha! [This message has been edited by JL (09-21-2012 11:21 AM).] |
