She had her child on her back the Louisiana strip came off the sunset as her jacket dressed down the farmers land acres of corn strawberry fields her black, midnight jacket warmed the air segueing into the fall of night That hot strip of sun like the olive branches that watched over her as a young girl precocious, unimpeded simply rubbing her skin against the wild oak as if her youth could read natures scope and channel its history onto the palm of her hand For her child on her back whispered the soft echoes of her mothers soft skin the softest Louisiana, the strip levying against the sun |

quote: Writing this from south Louisiana I can only say that there isn't one line in this poem which didn't give me great pleasure to read, but the lines I quoted, to me, were the best of them. ~*~ If they give you ruled paper write sideways. ~*~ |

If I owned an art gallery, I would have one large hall for the Tomer paintings, and this one would have a prominent position. Owl |

simply rubbing her skin against the wild oak as if her youth could read natures scope and channel its history onto the palm of her hand I'm a Louisiana native... and love my home state. So often, I've watched or read as it was portrayed poorly... That isn't the case here. *S* Excellent write!! |
