She's Still a Beauty (for my mother's 83rd birthday)

Fair to middlin' of nowhere

She is still a beauty at eighty-three
I'm sure she got her looks from me
Her hair is angel white in short waves of curl
only a hint of make-up she's not a girly-girl

She is sweet as she can be, she has a heart of gold
Just be sure you are doing exactly as you're told
She still rules the roost with determination beyond compare
She still puts her foot down as she sees fit, especially in her wheelchair

Her memory has become a slippery thing and naps just hit the spot
Her eyesight is fine, she still sees every crumb, lint, hair, or dust dot
Your Birthday is here again marking off another year on earth
And what a blessing you have been since the day of your birth.

Happy Birthday to your beautiful Mom, dear Lori!

I know of nothing more touching than the manifestation of love for a mother or a father by their offspring. And your precious words of love just fill my heart with warmth and bring an approving smile.
