Summer's Haze Summer's haze and lazy days Warm breeze upon the silk Far away sheep softly graze Blue skies and clouds of milk Barley stems that brush your hand Corn gold how shines your hair Poppies there in barren land Bouquets for maidens fair Shadows long upon the field The same at Dawn and dusk Ancient Tor where knights once kneeled A subtle smell of musk Babbling brook for thirsty rook The scarecrow so forlorn Silent there in daisy nook Just straw where clothes are torn Do you smile in sunshine rays Are tears no longer there Were those really better days What thoughts behind your stare Dusk descends on silent wings And shadows are no more Softest touch the nettle stings Pale roses round your door Weaving path in moonlight there Why never straight the line On your sleeve your heart you wear The silken web so fine With each Dawn new shadows born The drone of life that's past Straw within a heart that's torn And eyes that close at last |

A lovely rendition of a life lived and a life setting. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

I agree with Startime... this is stunning! I love your rhyme scheme - it's gentle enhancement to the beautiful scene you paint! |
