When the heart makes its escape from the closet of this life it leaves no jacket, hat, or shoes to speak of its existence. The door now stands ajar like a challenge to the brave to step over the threshold into that empty space. And they stand like you and I uncertain what to do because the dark of the unknown always terrifies. But not to worry, no, no, no, ‘tis just a closet empty, dark, with nothing left behind to speak as the heart once surely did. And the brave, yes, the brave venture nearer, nearer, in and suddenly the door bangs closed and keeps them there confined. When the brave in darkness terrified ‘tis just a moment, year, lifetime, before heart again opens doors and the brave, yes, the brave must simply wait and be patient in the closet of life without a heart! Interesting bit of speculative poetry, Helen. With life without a heart bravery would sorely be needed, that is for sure. A bit of soul-searching might also be in order. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

I'm on a mission to emulate those who live without a heart - called a survival tactic. Helen |

How very sad...I wouldn't want to live without a heart even if I have to have it broken again and again...I know about closed doors because I am working on opening many...great reading that gets the mind thinking...*BIG HUGS* *may our dreams ever be magical* |

Thanks Startime. I guess it depends on the severity of the break. Always it's the intensity of anything in the past that decides our present and future reactions no matter how much we would wish it to be otherwise. Helen |

This is very impressive, dear Helen, you have such a way with soul searching and analyzing in your poetry. Who acts without the guidance of the heart is at risk to hurt others. I believe that our hearts can't be silenced for long though ... we are meant to FEEL. Detachment from emotions is dangerous, though they say it brings peace. What kind of peace? Whatever you write you give us food for thought ... the theme should be treated in a conference I say! Love and hugs, dear heart. Margherita |

Sometimes I think we hide our heart ...waiting for someone special to find it. Enjoyed your poem, Ms. E |
