Summers’ Promise

Sunlight filters through tall pine trees
warming the shadowed forest path
The scent of earth and flowing brook
are carried on a gentle breeze

A path follows the crystal stream
to empty in a pristine lake
Cooling winds refresh heated flesh
inviting hikers for a dip

Soft sun-warmed sands massage bare feet
as small waves ripple silently
The water is warmed from suns’ heat
relaxing campers at days’ end

They swim in silence but as one
letting natures’ sounds caress them
On the edge of the lake they rest
feeling forest’s spirit embrace

A vision filled with dreams of love
for two souls who are kept apart
Time and distance comes between them
still they hold close Summers’ Promise

Ah, beautifully created poem of love and a paradise where they can enjoy each other. I especially loved these two lines . ..

I visualized your excellent descriptive passages and it brought a smile to my face. "Crystal stream." Pristine lake."

I feel the balm of summer and that magical place it takes the emotions when the living is easy and love wings on the breezes in lovely, soft imagery to beguile the senses!
