Heat rose from the pages Flames lite up the sky Ten thousand words disappear The last one only ‘why?’ Treasured holder of inked design Penning images all yet unknown What might have been what could be Were visions he had shown Who will shine a light on us Our foolish foibles portray Who will take the banner Now Ray Bradbury has passed away? |

I heard the news...and it saddened me. One of his most memorable books to me was Farenheit 451...it scared me that someone would do away with books. But look how on target he was with the "wall tv" and "interactive tv"...amazing. And of course, look what bloomed under his vision of such things as Star Trek... his genius will be missed. |

I really was shocked. I thought he had passed away years ago. He most assuredly left his mark on the world. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

Wonderful tribute to a great man, writer and visionary. We shall continue to dream his dream of a future of peace, moving all together on to new scientific discoveries, finding a way to unite for the sake of humanity and science... that will allow us to have a FUTURE. Thank you for this. Margherita |

I've read practically everything written by the man...I say practically because, maybe I missed something and don't know it.... Fahrenheit 451, 1984, Atlas Shrugged - should be required reading for Everyone in this country. |

A wonderful tribute to one of my all-time favorite writers (by one of my favorite writers, no less). |

Thank you all for your kind comments. In life don't you find that there are some people that have an impact on you in some way? Ray Bradbury was one of those people for me. He won me over by writing about a subject near to my heart. Burning books is an abhorrent thought to me. I can't imagine destroying words/thoughts like that. Censorship is a 'non violent' book burning in my estimation. And as bad as burning a book. As a writer, we know how hard it is to give our words feeling and meaning. To destroy them would be to destroy the heart of the writer. Even the most hateful writer should be allowed to write their thoughts. We don't have to read them or like them. But they should be allowed to do it. And Ron? Thank you for your comment. As YOU know, you're another person, like Ray Bradbury, who has had a big impact on my life. Without you (and PiP) my voice would have been stunted years ago. I miss my home here. |

PdV... I cannot think for a moment that you've been without a home, here. My biggest worry? Where will this home be, in the future? I looked in Alice's mirror...I'm not getting any younger. I can only hope that there will be a wellspring for our future writers in Passions in Poetry. |

I think we can safely assume that Ray Bradbury is a one in a lifetime type writer/person... if you're lucky enough to be in that lifetime with him. Bradbury will be capturing the human imagination for many years to come, and probablyhave science proving for him what some thought only imagination. A truly gifted and unique mind he had. He will be missed. Michael |

His writings were pure poetry and his imagination was unmatched. No one could write like him. I have everything he has ever written. He wrote a short story called 'The Sound of Summer Running" which was nothing more than the story of a child buying a pair of tennis shoes that had me in tears. Another story called the "anthem Runners" is one of the greatest, most imaginative stories ever written. I read his "Something wicked This way Comes" as a child in my little Missouri home and I swear I could hear the sounds of the circus wagons coming into town. He was the main inspiration for me to write. I went to see him at the Miami book fair years ago and hung on every word. he will always be THE MAN in my book. |

My eyes held tears when I heard of his passing... they do again as I read this beautiful tribute. Thank you, PdV - I could ditto so many of Sunshine's, Ron's and Deer's words. Something Wicked This Way Comes was my introduction to Bradbury... I don't know what will be my last venture into his worlds... I just know I'll be reading his words as long as I'm reading. |
