I was sitting on the limb of a tree, just a young man, I loved climbing trees, looking over the distant landscape one leg dangling, swinging freely, the other braced against the trunk, I was considering my blessings, good health, grandpa and grandma loved me, the evening sun warmed my face, when it came to me I was grateful for being alive, being able to enjoy a miracle, the miracle of reasoning consciousness, being able to plan my next thoughts and actions, thinking about the chords I could play on the guitar and the lyrics I could write. It came to me that I was insignificant in the large arrangement of life. Gifts, that's what had been given me, same as every other human, gifts, many different gifts out there, shared amoung all humans in the race. I realized resentment was wrong, detrimental to growth and stability in this turbulent world we live in, I should appreciate the gifts of others the same as I appreciate the gifts given to me. I thought of Lenny Breau's guitar skills and I resolved within myself humility was one of the gifts that made me love him for what he was, a gift. |

This is wonderfully insightful, dear Eric. That tree you choose for your meditation was no doubt precious for your awareness of the gifts you had been bestowed with. Very wise and very beautiful. Margherita |

It is difficult to come to that point in life, Eric, when you can think with the thoughts you have made here. Human beings are self-centered for the most part, I place myself in that group, but I've been sorta working on the other. Nice write, man. ~*~ If they give you lined paper, write sideways. ~*~ |

It is amazing how we do contemplate mostly in the right direction, when guided by such as a the Lord, grandma and grandpa... That I do understand. Or maybe I should have said, me too. Enjoyed. JL ![]() Love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. Love your neighbor as yourself. |

Jerry Humans may be self centered but they're also able to reach within if they're so inclined. Many many humans do that and are very self sacrificing donating thier time to worthy causes. I know many of those causes are flawed but they're still giving. Humility is a tough quality to develop in this world full of independence and strife but those that do are more at peace with themself than the majority who promote the mob mentality. However, I appreciate your honesty and you always call it the way you see it. As always, I appreciate your visit and your candid comments. Eric true love never looks after it's own interests |

ethome, I often stop by to read but do not take the time often enough to write or post to others much any more. In you I find we share a lot of the small things that make a life. I had an imaginary branch in a tree, only mine was Oak. There is a huge, very huge Sycamore right outside my back door. Much too large to be there but this city has a rule. You cannot take down a tree unless you replace it with one the same size. This one is way over the top of the house, its branches spread into three neighbors yards and some of the huge old gnarled roots do too. Trees have personality and although I did not climb I looked up to them and often took my strength from them. Planted many type in three different yards over the years.I am still at it, for they will still be here after I am gone. I hope others pull strength and life from them. jo |

Great imagery, and pleasent-thought provoking. A very wise and enlightened young man. Though I must say, Every being on this planet is significant to the flow of the universe and everyone flowing within it. Every breath, every thought, is significant in the life of others. It's a matter of perspective, but if you think about it, and follow the trail far enough, you come to a rabbit hole. Once you dig around a bit and peer inside you begin to realise, we are all One. You are a part of this earth, and theirfor a part of the multitude of species on it. Thank you for sharing this with us. It's not easy being evil, in a world gone to hell. |

You know latearrival that's one of the best replies I have ever received on these forums. I love your honesty and integrity in that reply and I thank you so much for taking the time to write it. Stay with your beautiful self to enjoy the dreamlike but good things in life and may we all be able to recall our open hearts of youth. Love you Eric true love never looks after it's own interests |

Hey Hippin I appreciate your perspective on all of this but I'm not too much into general acceptance of explanations of existence. To avoid any type of mere human philosophies bred in arrogance I am a firm believer in creation. Yes, even science has to submit to the unexplained quite often. I smile to hope that you and Lewis Carroll have a grand time looking down that rabbit hole but then I never attribute too much to [Profanity Removed - Ron ]. I use no, personal scapegoats to explain the majesty of intelligent design being the essence of man's existence. I sure appreciate your explicit comments. Please don't take this personal it's just a forum of opinions. Eric true love never looks after it's own interests [This message has been edited by Ron (06-10-2012 06:28 PM).] |
