The first time that we met I wore my best blue dress you wore camouflage and looked an awful mess The second time we met you wore olive green I again wore my blue dress thank God it still was clean! We joked about it later, olive green became your name you called me azure blue and colors were never the same Whenever you said you loved me I remembered that green you wore a shade so down to earth it made me love you more The dress wore out in time, camouflage went out of style but our love kept on growing, with each new loving smile The babies now run up to us to chant, tell us Gran! how you fell in love with Gramps, was he a handsome man? They never tire of the story, they smile and giggle with glee and then they fall silent when you tell how you met me Eleven children in our life, twenty three grandbabies came and all the grands would ask to hear the story just the same. The grandbabies now have children, our story is never told it’s hard, you see, to think of love when the grandparents grow so old. ~ ~ ~ I found the poem my grandmother wrote, in a book upon the shelf I read it many times today, to my family and to myself We buried them today you see, they died asleep holding hands Eleven kids, and twenty three of the ones she called her grands Seventy years of marriage, a testament to a love so true in caskets, side by side they lay, olive green and azure blue. |

Heartwarming and heart-wrenching at the same time. I don't believe I read this before, so glad I did today. |

Most deVine one... a wonderful read from the past. It is a pleasure to read such work again. Peace to you and yours. "We'll chase them like rats across the tundra." |
