THE PINE FOREST We came upon a stand of pine and were awed by dance and sway of trees Sweet smell of decay which was Autumn wafted to us upon a lazy breeze We were enticed, nay seduced to lay beneath the trees of pine With browning needles pillowing our heads We laid with limbs entwined Cradled by the endless forest of fragrant fir and a scattering of birch I spied a chipmunk eyeing us warily from the safety of a lofty perch We lay listening to stillness of sound Broken only by the twitter of birds unseen amongst the many branches Enchanted...we had no words I know not how long we dallied in this wondrous, peaceful place For we were lulled to sleep and all thoughts drifted into space Then the shadows grew longer and night silently crept around As it's darking fingers sought to wake us I shivered from the chill of cooling ground Spell broken...drozily we awoke Sadly we knew it was time to depart But the memory of this beautiful forest Eternally etched upon our heart |

Enjoyed reading this. You've reminded me of a thick pine enclosure in a (deciduous) forest I used to frequent. Nicely done and thanks! |

I enjoyed walking through your pine forest. It reminds me of the national park at the back of my high school. I would lay there until dusk. ![]() |

I often go for a walk in a park with pine trees, I enjoyed your poem very much, as I can relate to the peace and beauty of such a place. Very beautifully written. Love, Margherita |

Thank you all for reading my poem. My boyfriend and I went for a walk in the forest last fall and fell asleep under some pine trees. We still talk about it as a special place and moment. Kat >^..^< |
