Why a form of art Which departs from accepted Parameters set? To touch and stir hearts To intrigue and challenge head? And leave unfulfilled? Vocabulary- To wrest it into meaning- Things not intended. Rhythm and meter- The very substance of music Flippantly cast off. While challenging, true- Perhaps it serves to feed egos Who can't attain rhyme. A rebel, myself? Perhaps, yet perhaps a voice In defense of art. |

It is not haiku just because one counts the words and finds seventeen. Haiku needs the spirit found in an observation. The sense of "aha"! I don't recall seeing this from you elsewhere. I find that with great practice, haiku is a very satisfying form. (as must be the form you do so well) |

I think you would think differently if you were to read haiku in Japanese, which is such a beautiful language. Nakinurete Itasa Koraete Makura Nure Wet pillows do dry in the sun. |
