On the Cusp of Spring Solstice On the eve of the cusp of spring solstice stood the sun – amid light breezes, open, lofty blue skies gave great sun grins at the spark of green from gentle push of broad tulip and slender daylily leaves while buds on trees began their swelling… but that was yesterday… today…on the cusp of spring solstice we watched while the weather feathered itself asunder, lightly at first than more vociferously as the winds gained ground to push even darker gray boulders of cloud across the once blue skies of only hours ago… so that on this cusp of spring solstice… I don’t wonder that I never wrote of this moment before, as it is simply due to the constancy of change… and the terrible tiredness of wanting so much, so bad…. that even our thoughts trickle with such wicked treachery of thinking that spring is but a cruel hoax… and we mistakenly liken that to love when there are no arms close enough to warm our tired souls. |

`Spring is but a cruel hoax`. This poem makes me feel empathy for those with no one to share this season. For indeed this should be a season where lovers should be sitting holding hands on a park bench somewhere. This poem makes me look upon spring in a different light. |

Sissie....Spring sometimes fools us because we long for something in it, that is part of us. If it doesn't happen now, know that it will happen one day, and you'll be able to touch it with your eyes as well as your thoughts. ![]() |

Such melancholy beauty. Love the mood Karilea. Love the reasoning in these lines... "I don’t wonder that I never wrote of this moment before, as it is simply due to the constancy of change…" Wonderful! Eric |

From the almost whimsy of the beginning lines to this WHAM at the end... this is incredible. I have a library shelf just waiting for it. *S* |

Such descrpition here, the interchanging weather scenes above and around us that usher in a coldness and longing, ending slightly sad, but always brave...thank you for this K.. Goldenrose. "we watched while the weather feathered itself asunder, lightly at first than more vociferously as the winds gained ground to push even darker gray boulders of cloud across the once blue skies of only hours ago…" I feel it in my breath and on my skin |

You use words like a painter uses colours to paint a masterpiece that transcends time and connects us to the emotion that we all at one point have or will experience..well written.ww |
