No More Pictures You can see the walls haven't been painted in a while, how long it's been since I've dusted by the shiny areas where they used to sit. You can feel the emptiness in every room, smell the difference in the air . . . no more pictures, anywhere, of you. They all came down in the night, in the dark of lightless rooms, so I wouldn't have to look you in the eye, be swayed by your smile, coaxed by the tilt of your head, or how the wind blew your hair. No more pictures, anywhere, of you . . . no more pictures, except the one I can't erase, the indelible image, you left in my heart. ©wesley james beard, jr. february 2010 |

Very well expressed, powerful ending, I feel the sadness in this because I too, am going through the same.... Intellectually I know that Canada is no better than any other country. Emotionally I KNOW that Canada is the best country in the world! |

Nicely done. Some things we just can't escape. To be able to do so would render us less than human. I went on the trip with you all the way through all the lines. Eric |
