It’s nine o’clock and the settlement house just closed. It’s snowing like crazy and the wind bites into you like being cut with a knife. Little Bones doesn’t want to go home just yet. Mom’s there with her crazy new man, and there’s no telling what he might do. Bones jumps onto the rear bumper of a bus heading downtown. Bobby |

funny how we take the concept of something so simple as 'home' for granted. or having our own car. The homeless aren't always people without a home. Jeff |

Ah, Bobby,I feel so bad for bones. He's an archetype of so many who can't call home: "Home Sweet Home". ---Art |

Thanks Art, Don't feel bad for Bones. He knows he's not alone. He has other fellow travelers downtown. Bobby |

Thanks Paul, I'm glad it reminded you of being a kid. Garbage trucks are good for that too. Bobby |

Sometimes the street is safer than "home." for kids like Bones. Ida |

Thanks Yann, Yes, it was sad, and unfair. That's the way it was sometimes. Bobby |

Having experienced the harsh reality of a stepfather myself, I do understand Bones' reaction. Couldn't be myself when he was at home, i.e. he didn't want me to sing! But coming home late was also a problem! Sad reality visions, dear Bobby. Love, Margherita |

Bobby - I thought I saw Bones on back of that bus in Philly during the snowstorm. Hope he's doing well... BC |

Thanks dear Margherita, It must have been hard for you not being able to sing. Step-parents often times seem to be a problem. Love Bobby |

Thanks Bill, Bones mentioned that he saw you, but he couldn't wave because he was hanging on to the bus for dear life. Bobby |

I'm glad to read Bones is still around. How are Mary and Joseph doing? Hope they are happy. I plead with you: tell us more! |

Thanks GBride, I don't have a Mary and Joseph, I think perhaps you're thinking of my old friends Marika and Muck. Muck has passed on, and Marika is doing well. Their son Muck Charles is a priest. Bobby |
