Of, and By, and For, The People!! Eleven score and fourteen years ago Our fathers founded this new Nation Believing, all should be free and equal (That was Lincoln’s proposition.) Like then, we seem to be engaged In a civil war against each other Testing, if this Nation can endure Brother fighting, against brother. He spoke on a great battlefield To dedicate it, for those who died So, this Nation might live on But, have we really, truly, tried? Did all those since, die in vain Will we let our Country fall Do we all have the devotion The strength, to answer, the call? We have a bunch of those radicals Who shout, and rant, and rave Who, try to make us all believe It’s the World, they want to save. Most of those who spout that hate Don’t care what it’s going to cost To drag us all, down with them To where, all of our souls are lost. Will we fight for our Freedom Do we have, that same strong will To vote for those who work for us Who make promises, they fulfill? Or will we just remain, divided Because, we walk a Party line Even knowing, it’s the wrong path What will our history, define? Will it show we had the resolve To do, what, we know is right Or, will it reflect our ignorance That, we went down, without a fight? Term limits should be put in place So they don’t get caught, in the spin Ignoring, the needs of the people And doing, anything, just to win. It’s not a game they’re playing Not, for the power, they obsess Sometimes, about life and death And they should do their best, no less! So, the next time in a voting booth Where you have the right to choose Try to use, some common sense For, if you win, you still might lose. So, the next time in a voting booth Where you have the right to choose Try to use, some common sense For, if you win, you still might lose. I agree, totally. Every time I voted for someone who promises change and what I believe in, once elected it never changes a thing! M |
