No more forests in China, no more forests in Indonesia. They cut the wood of genuine forests, the green blood of the earth. Invisible greedy colonists take advantage of Africa. There will be no pardon in the words or dreams. Tomorrow trees will be more precious than the prayers. |

It should make you feel a little better, Yann, that when I bought my current house in 1983, I pulled up all the alien shrubs and hedges and had planted (by my son (11 years old in 1983), initially and Nature, many, many trees that are indigenous to this corner of South Africa. From about 1985, it was and still is an indigenous forest. I can name every tree in my garden by its botanical name, and most of the butterflies, and I know the common names of most of the birds that visit it. I also have a genet (Genetta tigrina - to whom there is a poem of that name somewhere in the archives) resident in the forest and a troop of Vervet monkeys visit it regularly. Thanks to my forest, my house is warmer in winter and cooler in summer than other houses. Thanks for recognising the situation. Every little bit helps. Owl |

So, so sad! A good write about a serious situation! I love trees. Have you seen the book, "The Life and Love of Trees" by Louis Blackwell. Totally amazing! ooxx ________________________ |

Yann, Trees will always be with us. They need only sunlight, water, carbon dioxide, and dirt to grow and prosper. I've worked in China, there are still loads of trees there. Bobby |

yann - it's terrible how they are cutting down the forests. I love the trees especially the older ones, gentle giants they are... BC |

dear Owl, thanks for the beautiful comment and for what you did on nature, I enjoy very much your act of planting trees, it is a long term benefice surely and the differences you described with other properties is stimulating...Thoughts like that make me happy and show cleverness and kindness, I consider with humility what you did and thanks you gratefully for all.... have a nice day yann |

Hello Bobby, you must have visited a special place in China (may be in south), I have travelled thousands kilometers and have never seen forest like in USA. However you have your truth and I respect that and I thank you for evry comment you offer . regards yann |

Yes indeed Bobby, I share that a lot, the rule should be one tree cut, one tree planted....if some organism could cope with that it would provide more life and future on Earth...Thanks Bill for the comprehensive and kind comment. regards yann |

Highly significant write, dear Yann. It hurts to know of all the places in the world where ignorance and profit targeted actions ruin our habitat. May the awareness grow that we depend on our trees. I remember from school that Switzerland maintains its percentage of forests, by planting always as many trees as are cut for various needs and reasons. That should be a world-rule. Thank you, dear Yann, for speaking up so powerfully for our trees' preservation. Love, Margherita |
