The Rest of the Story / Pierre & Amelie Coming home from the French Foreign Legion Pierre was already aware that his sweetheart may have not been faithful. He knew this because a new recruit to his Squadron, fresh from his training and having taken a five day pass on the streets of Paris before reporting to his new Unit, was boldly showing off pictures of his latest fling, who just so happened to be Pierre's Parisian girlfriend. Although this new recruit was vague on intimate details, he claimed to be God's Gift to Girls and the Worlds Greatest Lover. Naturally Pierre didn't take this so well and they agreed to settle this matter in the boxing ring, where the winner takes all. Pierre won easily and regained some of his honor before he departed home to Paris. Upon his arrival in Paris he shared his story with his sweetheart, who was happy to tell him the reason why the new recruit had her picture, and certainly no more than that. It seems that in Pierre's absence, his girlfriend Amelie had taken up modeling and one day after departing from the studio she was riding on the Metro when the new recruit noticed her, told her she was as beautiful as a model, told her he would be going away to a remote outpost in a few days and begged her for a picture. At that moment, Amelie thought of her boyfriend Pierre and had compassion on this man that only wanted a picture to remember her by. So she gave him a picture and he went on his way with a smile on his face. You know the rest of the story. JamesLee 09February 2010 |

Dear James, this is a romantic and sad story, you told it well. The legionaries certainly have no easy life. You brought back memories of long ago when I knew a Swiss boy who had been in the foreign legion and had been sent home with an injured foot. At least he survived! Love, Margherita |
