There once was a nice poetry website,
I found it by mistake to my delight.
Everything was going fantastic,
But the poets are gone, no where to click.
Is this a withdrawal from Christmas?
Or have I been banished to bards' Isthmus?

To mimic is a form of praise unless
you have no thoughts of your own

There's a fact and we all know it.
Writing can fulfill a need
But, even for an erstwhile poet.
Life can often intercede.

Like the tides that come and go
Spreading waves upon the sand
The words may come out fast or slow
From the pen in poet's hand.

Worry not, impatient fellow
Poets all will soon return
Christmas time can make one mellow
Soon the Passion fires will burn.

Hi Jerry, happy Christmas blues.  I do know the feelings you write of.  I notice several poets post on the fly without a single reply to another poet(S) poem,  irks me just a little bit.  I love this place, but it takes more than love to make it work.  Time of course to write, and if you have time to write, you should make time to leave a reply...  time goes hand in hand when it comes to interacting and this is an interactive poetry site afterall.

Onward to a New Year, may you be blessed with love and happiness and an abundance of good health.

Finding the time to get to the computer is difficult, finding time to write even harder. You are not the only one out there that is glad "it's" over.

There are some poets that I don't like, and there are some that I cannot understand, BluesSerenade, and I have been guilty of not commenting because, quite frankly, I don't know what to say half the time and I'm not a good liar. But I try to comment if at all possible.

Thank you for stopping by and here's to your new year being the best yet.

"Worry not, impatient fellow"

I will try not to be so impatient in the future, Balladeer. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

I hear you Lori. Like someone above said I am too impatient.

Though I'd rather be able to read and write
And spend my time within this site
I've had to play at being a ghost
And travel the croweded roads like most

See, two teenage daughters is what I've got
And being their chauffeur is my lot
With best freind in hospital and the others spread far
It's not uncommon to find us in car

And though I'd rather read and write
And enjoy the company within this site
It's when I'm driving, the police have a problem
With the wires I drag connecting my modem

So I'll have to wait until it's my time
For a time that's mine to write and rhyme
And until then I'll just play the ghost
And try to provide the occasional post

"We'll chase them like rats across the tundra."

Nice poem . . . Jerry

But you don't owe me an explanation.

Jerry Pat, when I feel like reading and there is not much activity, I go to archives and type in a poet’s name. There is an abundance of beautiful poetry and some great humor if you go back. It does not matter if you know who you are reading. You will get to know them just by reading. I read for a full year here before I did anything but maybe post a reply. latearrival

Jerry, your curt reply and reference to my comment gives me a feeling that perhaps you took it the wrong way. I have seen your generous and abundant replies to all, always in a positive manner and I think very highly of you. My "impatient fellow" comment was nothing more than my little "tongue in cheek" reference to your poem. I try to use humor a bit, if you haven't noticed. The problem with the printed word is that one doesn't get the chance to see the smile on one's face or the twinkle in the eye when something is being offered. I'll be more careful...promise!

Balladeer is rock awesome, Jerry! Always think the best when viewing his replies then you see his good nature gleaming behind intelligent eyes!

Happy to hear Balladeer has such a cheering section. I am certain that he deserves it. And thank you for your comment on my dribble.

cool clatter JP..

monday after christmas is healing time after fist fighting a drunk fat guy and eight thug footed rein deer..I have noticed that many thursdays around here are usually zombieland compared to the rest of the week too.

I hope the best stuff I ever wrote/write is on a napkin in a bar where no one will ever respond if they even read it..something about not knowing if it found it's intended reader or not is an amazing gratuity. (to me anyway)

I guess you are right, daark. This poem sure wasn't anything to brag about. But II wasn't writing it to brag. I'm just too impatient.

at Dark's comment...too cool for school!

Now the fat guy has a full year to recuperate.

Jerry, you must make this poem a back to the future post at least ONCE a year!

Ah, I doubt it'll be a back to the future kind of thing next year, Sunshine. I think this has pretty much ran its course. At least I hope so.
