reminiscent of a Jewish mother hovering more kosher than a Jerusalem rabbi jagged, dangerous as a drunken circumcision knife more eloquent than the songs of Solomon holy place . . . consecrated spot Moses received Yahweh's laws bickering Jew descent did brew snapping dogs and hungry snakes threatened the soul consumed by a special flame descendant of Hebrew slave traditional founder of Judaism eyes fixed on the promised land like a ghost come to deliver his children fulfilling oath tribe fell to sloth leave Egypt take your Jewish brethren walk to the corner of the world called The Promised Land Moses suck it up, lead My children out of bondage you have to go it will be slow murmuring came from within cursing their God drunk with sun and sand he trekked behind camels across arid desert wrestled with his peoples' demons stayed their fog of uncertainty you must believe we will achieve Moses, the man, stopped clouds of doubt from fomenting fought back pessimism one lone man with faith of that mustard seed going to set foot on the Promised Land ordained God will love you when heart is true they got tired of dust and disease the never-ending trek nobody told them anything divine just Moses hard-headed, plodding Moses smiling, because he was to set foot on Promised Land oh, what a joy find his place, oy a mighty leader kept the Israelites on the straight and narrow ah, maybe he was in a hurry maybe he forgot to sanctify children of Israel God is wrathful let Moses see the Promised Land then to wander in the wilderness unfulfilled nomadic drab died in Moab . . . and the raven said, )!(%!~@~#&$ . . . |

This is not your usual fare...so it took me a couple of reads to get a feel for it. Were you intending it to be a bit on the dry humor side of Biblical history? The more I read it the better I liked it. Lori |

Seems to not be too popular. I do different things in regards to poetry, Lori. I don't like to get locked into one format. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose. Yes he did, Rex. He also taught us there is a penalty to pay if you don't do what is expected of you. In his case he never got to set foot in The Promised Land. To mimic is a form of praise unless you have no thoughts of your own |
