We get it almost as bad here on the east coast of Canada. I don't think a person ever gets used to it they just tolerate it somehow. However, that's a beautiful photo and the words within describe it so well. No wonder Robert Srevice ended up on the south coast of Spain before he died. However, there's some rumour that he never was in the Yukon, but I think he was there working as a bank teller. Take care and have a beautiful 2011! Eric ain't doin nothin at all just answerin the call and kinda driftin away from it all |

Appreciated, even from a locale that never gets that exceptionally frigid. I believe that -40º is the point where the Fahrenheit and Celsius temperature scales meet. |

Incredible contrast between the warm colors of the sun and the temperature you mention, dear Alison. Brrrrrrrr, one would imagine that the cold makes even the sun too rigid to dance, but you succeeded in making it dance beautifully! Love and warm hugs. Margherita ![]() |

Alison, your excellent photo and equally excellent poem complement each other perfectly (as always) . You had me living your Alaskan life, for what seemed like forever. The word “still” had me captivated in ways that I do and don’t understand. Owl |

Wow! I have family who live in AK, too. I shiver a lot in the coastal rains where I live, but this kind of cold is hard to fathom when you don't deal with it! Your poem is truly awesome. ~K |

Margherita dear, NOTHING makes the sun stop dancing. It might freeze in space, but it dances on. Love you, Alison - Jaime, The picture is of the sun hanging low above some shadowed spruce trees. There is car exhaust turning into what we call - Ice fog. There are street lights showing at noon and it looks like dusk in most places. It's mid day here. The haiku says - The afternoon sun hangs low at forty below a still life goes on. Happy New Year, my friend. Alison - Hey Ida, Rain can be something to complain about and find beauty in. Love, A - Diana, Happy New Year. Thank you, my friend. The word "still" is a play on words. I was thinking of still life (as in art) and how still life is when it gets cold. Love, A - Karen, Thank you for reading and feeling. It's always a joy to read your responses. A - Umm, Daark, I think that they are wearing gloves. Maybe? Or is it like the Emperor's New Clothes. I think I see what does not exist? Or am I too frightened to say that the LED are naked? I don't know. I am confused. Cold confustion is a locational hazard here. Love ya, Ali-san - Rex, How did you know??? A - Blusey Girl. Thank you for the kind words. I thank you for reading and taking the time to share your thoughts too. xoxoxo A - Karou! So long since I have seen your words. You make me happy. Happy New Year. Alison |
