She sipped her coffee As if the warmth of its body Permeated through her, Like the skin of a child against its mother She sipped her coffee As a lover does, With the night chiding the sun, The memories of silence Her small heels, Resting under the table, Hanging, like the jaws that passed her, Sipping it carefully, Gracefully, tempting, Racing against time There is no silver lining, Just a dip of red, Black coffee, Resting along the backend of Tuesday morning. |
