Fair to middlin' of nowhere

The heat
of flame danced wood
sinks slowly
into the chill
Warming
beyond the body
deep into the soul
Glowing embers
and licking flames
sooth
that primal place
Where fire
is life.

The true life character, John Orr, in the true life book I'm reading "Fire Lover" by Joseph Wambaugh would live this poem. Of course he is the serial arsonist from California who was ironically an arson investigator.

Not taking anything away from this well delivered poem, Lori, it is just coincidental that I would be reading it at the same time you wrote this poem.

Uh, yeah, I have heard that somewhere myself. Sharp as a two-headed tack, Lori.
