THE CATCH One day i went fishing and for hours I kept casting out the line-- but not even a nibble On the way home I had the line over my shoulder when the hook got loose and slashed through the shirt and into my skin I let out a scream! I lunged with my left hand but couldn't get to it-- It was lodged in the middle of my back the pain was unbearable I grabbed the line and began jerking & pulling forwards & backwards but the hook became deeper embedded I felt a trickle of blood I stood in agony excruciating pain when someone walked by with a string of fish flung over his shoulders he saw what happened and had me lay prone on the sidewalk I was starring at the dead fish as he deftly dislodged the hook and set me free |

GREAT visual here. Also some kind of lesson learned, although I'm not exactly sure what it is and how it can benefit life. A parable. . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |

Thanks, Jerry....the seminal idea brewed from an article in a local paper a long time ago "Timothy Hadburry 12, was taken to a local hospital with a lacerated gash-- the result of a fishing accident. He was later treated & released and had this to say when questioned by a local reporter about the incident: "I don't think I'll ever go fishin' again knowing how a fish must feel when caught on a hook!" yes, I hope it will deter those who fish just for "sport" and not for food... thanks for reading! The barbs on a fish hook can be so painful! I remember, years ago a relative walked up behind her husband while he was casting off a dock one day. The hook embedded in her temple... aaaghh! All of them laughed in the story telling, but my stomach tied in knots thinking about it. I can still hear my uncle's laughter rolling from his toes, teasing his brother about "his big fish!" My family loves to fish, but we do eat them and smoke salmon sometimes for gifts. An indelible memory penned here. |
