POSSIBILITIES

Light beads speckle the floor, a necklace of pearls scattered
by last night’s dream, a new day of possibilities.

The morning is soft and easy.
On the wind’s song, lazy thought clouds take form.
If rainbow asks to make a note,
I embrace her sharing, for color rising on a sunbeam
becomes that occasional verse.

I caught her yesterday, but they’re so fragile,
these creatures. She died in seconds in my mind’s eye,
needing a more subtle light. All those netted inspirations,
when the day is done, lie collapsed on the damp earth.
Never mind, tomorrow before dawn, I’ll go star-searching again.

EXERCISE

Here is a parched field, a potential water can ripen
Here is the well whose midnight stillness
Recalls the world before creation
Here is the bucket drawn from the depth
Here is the hand that reaches, pulls, carries
Here is the same field sown with bright ideas
Here is the fertile bed of mind where something
As yet unconceived clamors to be born

loved these lines and maybe this is why I have trouble sleeping at night...my mind is working overtime lately

I liked everything about this. It is the ever present and constant (same thing, I know) reminder that our words are absolutely delicate and sometimes do not hang around too long. But with pen and small notepad in my pocket I sometimes capture the essence of them before the ill wild of discontent scatters them willy-nilly.

Great poetry today, Bastet.

Bastet, you're amazing. I never fail to admire, and enjoy, your works! The first is a delight... so layered, fraught with metaphorical imagery... I loved it. I remain a fan!

My best~

Thanks you so much , Amaryllis, for your very encouraging comments. Yes, I have printed a small book of poems, but they are a bit strange. They are about my experiences in India. If you would like to have it and can give me a postal address, I'll happily send it. There is no charge. Do you have a book?

I'd be intersted, B! India makes for a fascinating topic.. never-ending inspiration, to be sure. I'd be happy to contact you by e-mail, if that is ok.

No, I don't have a book, yet... although a few of my poems are published in an anthology... I'll include that in my e-mail. I should be ready to put one out there (book) within the next year.

Best~

A morning rainbow is a rarity---and here you have penned two of them.

Bastet: beautifuly rendered--like diaphanous dreams that quickly vanish in the morning light--a light less subtle
You've captured the glow from the light on the mountain, the lace from the willow..and transmitted it onto paper for us to enjoy!

Wonderful final repetitious litany of exercises that begin the cycle of starsearching once again-
with renewed hope!

Very well-written and thanks for sharing!
