to dream roses,
the heart is the life of a daisy,
amaranth tears and honeyed gold,
plucked unwittingly,
sometimes ingested white confetti

taste the salt, feel it become the soul of a smile,
memorize the fullness of a semi-circle,
(s)he loves me, loves me not--
linger warm in arms beyond the flute of flesh and bones....

garner roses growing--glowing--in the rain,
reaching for the light, yet leave me scattered
as dandelions and September
seeking again the kiss of sun

Loved this...especially the last:

"yet leave me scattered
as dandelions and September
seeking again the kiss of sun"

I'm with you!

I love the alliteration in this! It ties everything perfectly.

Martie, I have a yellow rose still blooming in my front yard.  We had snow the day before Thanksgiving and there it was, big as life, like stored sunshine. The snow is gone now, but that rose is wondrously tenacious.  I love your tenacity, too.  Thank you for the read!

"linger warm in arms beyond the flute of flesh and bones...."

Yes. Yes, indeed. Lovely poem and it goes right along with what you commented on mine a little while ago.
