Are You Just Like Me? Hey, friend. Thanks for talking.. I thought we'd all forgotten. but after all, who wants to talk? who needs to talk? about petty weather, the time of day, or a dead devoted friend? taboo. forbidden, though not with you. Tell me, please, remember him too? Do you feel me? If I glanced at you, I'd note a cracking voice, rain-kissed eyelashes, shaky hands, all too familiar. The same, but just the same as me? Sleeping to lullabys of lightning, waking by the taste of salty sadness, living with the need to hurt. Dying to stop the desolation, Tell me, friend, are you just like me? Like Ms. Sunshine, the second stanza left an impression upon me. Listing topics that were once discussed left me with an unsettled feeling. Good writing has that effect on readers. |
