While I’m still young at heart, And able of mind and body, I’ll get out And feel the exhilaration of the open road, Take in the wide, wide sky that cries out, freedom! And seek out the solitude of the mountains, And the sweet solemnity of desert places . . . Though this body ages, and decline is inevitable, I will never grow old of mind and spirit! Drinks all around, on this house of my being---salut! |

Thanks, JerryPat. I am undergoing a process of renewal as I take in the meaning of the passing of my mother's generation. My last aunt passed away on November 7, 2010, and it is a challenge to accept that reality, and move on, but I am pleased that each of them lived long and productive lives (my mother the exception, but only in terms of longevity), and I want to honor them all, from grandpa and grandma, to mother and her brothers and sisters. I am humbled to be a witness in this grand interment of a family that is foundational in my life. Thanks very much, and best wishes, Art |

Wonderful write, and good advice. So, in return I will merely say that we don't get older, the hikes just get longer... So, please, remember the Boy Scout mantra and Be Prepared!  |
