There'll still be birds upon the trees
and moments of belief in me
when all I thought to be and do
has dishonoured the creator.

Thoughts are like man-made machines;
it's hard to know who turns them on
and why they sometimes clatter, bang,
in denial of smooth flow.

I know the purr when all is well
and how it feels to be in tune
and yet the noise of thoughts unleashed
a din no one should hear.

It turns me from the love of you
to asking, asking, who it is
that overwrites love's silent speech
with words of no import.

But I know to oil the cogs and wheels
not something that can ever be
when tutored in the manner, means,
of life's cacophony.

I thought to be in silence "me"
and do the things I know to do
to keep the fires of love alive
until perhaps the next time.

But next time is a fallacy;
thoughts are set to clatter, bang,
and not give heart a ruling part
in a ... time machine!

Our inner battles rage on and on don't they? I have tried to change my tune and take a new approach so many times,
but ultimately I can't pretend what matters most, does't matter, because it always will.

Excellent write.

Insofar as this is part of us as biological units here, our many facets of a whiole, dream wiring and all that to learn to understand---and is not outright spoiled maliciousness gone overboard (as some misguided do, unfortunately)---then, please, dear Poet, do not worry about it overmuch.
