Sometimes in the evenin' I'll sit out on the swing. Let my mind sink back in time as night birds start to sing. The memories that beckon me are from farther in the past when I was so much younger and thought that time would last.. (Chorus) Memories are like blue jeans. more comfortable when they fade. The creases seem to soften as the roughness wears away. I can stretch 'em if I need to or ignore them for a while. It's nice to know they're still around faded memories in a pile. I may pick up the six string, play a half-forgotten riff. wait for time to catch up as my mind begins to drift. It's like a brief vacation to another time and place before my hair turned gray and wrinkles claimed my face. (Chorus) Memories are like blue jeans. more comfortable when they fade. The creases seem to soften as the roughness wears away. I can stretch 'em if I need to or ignore them for a while. It's nice to know they're still around faded memories in a pile. Early in the morning I'll gaze over the fields watch the horses grazing through their ongoing meal. A hawk soars across the sky and my mind will take to wing leave me standing at the window to see what it may bring. (Chorus) Memories are like blue jeans. more comfortable when they fade. The creases seem to soften as the roughness wears away. I can stretch 'em if I need to or ignore them for a while. It's nice to know they're still around faded memories in a pile. Eric, I am the first to sing along with you. I truly love this and really want to know the tune. The flow is wonderful and I love the blue jean analogy. Great writing. Alison |

Not only a great flow but words we can all relate to. I think I'd like to write a song but my son has to do it the other way round - tune first and then words and by the time he's got the tune I reckon he's also got the words. Helen |

THIS is good. Sometimes songs don't come across as poetic as other poetry does, but that is certainly not the case here. I have run across a new band (new to me) call Legend Heart. They have a song called "Hitchhiker" that I am using the words of for the back cover of my new novel, Three Corners. I imagined the woman who was singing "Hitchhiker" singing this one of yours. Here are the lyrics of "Hitchhiker" for your take if you like. HITCH HIKER MIDNIGHT WINDS ARE BLOWING FREE ACROSS THE OPEN SKY LEAVES AND FLOWERS TREES AND RAIN JUST SEEM TO BLOW ON BY MOUNTAIN ROADS AHEAD OF ME LOOK SO STEEP AND LONG SNOW IS FALLING HEAVENLY DOWN AS THE PATH IS WINDING ON (BRIEF INSTRUMENTATION) SHELTER MANY MILES AWAY NOT A CAR IN SIGHT SLEEPING UNDER NATURE'S CAVES HEARING SOUNDS OF NIGHT WILDERNESS IS NOT A STRANGER BEEN HITCHIN' FOR MANY YEARS RUNNING FROM MYSELF I GUESS OR HIDING FROM MY FEARS x JUST HOW DOES ONE DECIDE WHERE THEY WANT TO BE WHICH IS THE PASSAGE TO THE PERFECT PLACE FOR ME IF SOMEHOW I COULD ASK THE STARS TO TELL MY DESTINY MAYBE THESE TIRED EYES WOULD SEE (SOLO) MY JOURNEY'S LONG AND EMPTY DESTINATIONS UNKNOWN NO COMMUNICATION LETTERS TELEPHONE ALL ROADS MUST LEAD TO SOMEWHERE BUT WHERE IT'S HARD TO SAY SO IT'S ON, TO ENDLESS VOYAGES AS DARKNESS TURNS TO DAY.. ********************************* " WORDS AND MUSIC BY RENO WEST " ********************************* . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |

If there's anything I appreciate, it's fine lyrics and you certainly have them here. Love the bluejeans reference. Like faded bluejeans, I;ve been cuffed many times myself! Write on! |
