Forgive me, please. If I fail to take pity on you; you, who sits and cries. While the children watch- in fear. Wretched being. Why cry? We all know later you'll cover it up. Its just a slip, of his temper Stupid door. It hit you again, didn't it? -Trina. |

Oh Trina, so powerful... this is a brave write, written with a blunt voice... and so very sad. I`m sure many people have these thoughts when witnessing the aftermath of domestic violence; misunderstanding leads to lack of empthy at times, and we ask, in befuddlement: `why does she stay?` Well, the sorrowful truth is that unless we`ve walked (or hobbled) a mile (or even a yard) in those shoes, we cannot understand~ typically the woman`s spirit is so crushed as to render her powerless. It`s times like this we most need empathy... usually it takes outside help, and many women `leave` 4 or more times before they stay gone for good, unless she `leaves` in the most final and terrible way. =( Women who live with an abuser are at their highest risk when attempting to leave. . Anyhow, I`l get off my soapbox now, dear. I think you`ve written an important piece- one that asks the tough questions, gets people thinking. . And may you never `understand`, first hand. . Best~ Amaryllis |

I was fortunate to grow up in a house where my father would never in their bitterest arguments thought to his my mother. The same cannot be said for her way of thinking about hitting him. |

Hitting is always wrong, in my view. But, seriously... did your father truly `fear` your mother, Jerry?? Did he fear for his life? The vast majority of D.V. is men against women, and, with the disparity in physicality (we are typically smaller/weaker) it makes for a truly terrifying scenario for a woman, and usually an emotionally sad/annoying one for a man. In my opinion. . ~A |

Indeed, violence is wrong. Hmmm....My opinion on abuse is undecided. Sometimes, I think that anyone who stays (even when given the opportunity to leave) deserves what will happen to them, No one can really save them. (keep in mind, this is my thoughts on the matter) I know some people do need help, because as Amaryllis has stated- sometimes they're just physically incapable (smaller/weaker) to take action. In the end, I truly don't understand why anyone would stay in a violent relationship. I, for one, wouldn't. Perhaps its courage or stupidity, or both. I'd either stand up for myself and what I believe in, or I'd die trying. Ah, just me rambling. Thanx Amaryllis, EBM, Dark, Jerry, Prasad. ![]() -Trina. |
