My eyes are burning,
powerful paint stripper fumes
wound around them like copper wire,
safety glasses don't stop things like that.

My hands are burning,
powerful parts cleaner fumes
dug into my skin like termites
turning rust into power.

My heart is burning,
powerful exhaust fumes
found their way inside like a butterfly
and I breathed life into them.

Another about the Jeep. It's in the process of getting the entire drivetrain (engine, transmission, transfer case, axles) of a 3/4 ton truck in it.

I haven't written in a really, really long time. I always seem to write more in winter. Let's hope the trend continues so I can brush some of this dust off, and quit sucking so much.

Thanks Ali. I have another poem I posted a while ago that one person commented on, and it started sinking. Don't have the same following I used I guess

You rock!

Fall in love early, fall in love often.

I love the idea of writing to/of/about your jeep, or any auto... it`s so unique and masculine, it hails me back to my old Mi days and all the family & friend fellas were (still are!) such gearheads...  charmingly familiar to me, but so fascinating to read it written with a poets flair!

Good on ya~

Hey, be careful with that stuff. My step father used to build engines for top fuel dragsters. Now he's allergic to all those fumes. I like the style and feel of this one. I'm not much of car person, but one doesn't have to be to appreciate the quality here. Good luck on your project.

Love the concept.
She's gonna be all brand new and be able to move a mountain in 4 wheel drive....

Amaryllis... Thanks! I love my jeep like a child, but I beat the tar out of it. I'm an avid rock-crawler. Google it, it's fun!

Andrew scott... Thanks for the word of caution. I wear a mask. Thanks for the kind words as well!

Eric... Thanks man! She can already climb a mountain, she'll just be able to do it easier now!

As I read your poem I could hear the car's motor, the gas and the fumes. I truly enjoyed this poem, though I'm not much of a car person like my two sister's are.
