Enola The earth collapsed shattered by sky fire A poisonous mushroom of debris left behind The mother and her little boy Harbingers of the rising suns decline Heroes to the victorious West Rained destruction from on high All that is left in their wake are the shadows of the men Who vanished where they stood The wide island village in ruins As mother and son make many orphans In the name of peace And so it happened in, A gust Fortified, By the winds of fate That the rising sun fell to the West That quickly stormed the gate From The Desk of Donovan |

Sad times. There are situations where unheard of violence is necessary, especially in war, to save many lives of your own. this, then, was one of those times. How men are able to sleep after making decisions such as this has always been a mystery to me, but if not drugs to give them peace at night, they have to understand and accept the fact that he (Truman) saved many thousands of American lives if we had to invade Japan. . . . and the Raven said, %!~#&(!$! |

A fine piece on a horrific piece of history. I sometimes wonder which one would of had the more lasting impact, the dropping of the bomb or hundreds of thousands of deaths resulting from an armed assult on the island? One might argue that dropping the bomb was a more humane thing given the potential for mass suicides throughout the entire country. |

Must've been a tough decision to make, kill a few to same some others. I like the descriptions in this "rising sun" and the "west". Great write. Enjoyed. -Trina. |
