Listen to the chill Blown by the winds of winter, Yet it’s autumn still. The days grow darker and less bright, More suitable for me a creature of the night, No don’t be confusing me with vampires Eternal life, like that, is not my desire; Drinking blood has got to be a mistake When nothing is better than a juicy steak. I could easily give up light with gusto But not so easily my freshly made pesto. Oh sure blood and red wine look the same Though I’ve tasted some that have been rather lame, (Red wine that is, even as a creature of the night I prefer a crisp full bodied glass of white.) Look at the bare trees Shedding themselves of themselves, Casts a year to breeze. The call of fall is to harvest What a spring and summer did invest, My garden does best with peppers and herbs; Adding taste like an adjective to bland words. I grow so to never run out of thyme (Put that in because I just like the line.) I plant gardens in spring for a far off tomorrow And when chill comes move to the inside of the window. Outside growth slows with the coming chill, Yet the inner growth continues on the sill. Frost on the pumpkin, And darker skies sooth my eyes, Till it’s spring agin. Gloom |

it seems lately I have become a creature of the night again *sigh* but it's quiet...just have to turn my ringer off since the old folks wake up early great writing! |
